MATTHEW LIU is a composer, singer-songwriter, and music educator based in NYC. He received undergraduate and graduate degrees in composition at the Juilliard School studying with Dr. Robert Beaser where he also served on staff as a teaching fellow to Ear Training department head Wayne Oquin. His works have been commissioned by the Perlman Music Program and performed at venues such as David Geffen Hall, Carnegie Hall, and Luzhou Concert Hall and have won him numerous NJMEA, NAfME, and National YoungArts awards. A violinist, pianist, and dancer, Matthew is active in NYC’s musical theatre scene, serving as music director, conductor, and vocal coach as well as engraver, transcriber and orchestrator under names such as Frank Wildhorn, Michael Mott, R.C. Staab, Melissa Li, Osh Ghaminah’s Broadway for All, and Broadway Dreams. Recently Matthew music directed Marc Acito and Amy Englehardt’s hit off-Broadway run at the cell theatre of the rock musical Bastard Jones and the York Theatre Workshop Reading of Jeffrey Stock's Dutch Master the Musical. Matthew is a proud participant of the BMI Lehman Engel Musical Theater Writing Workshop, class of 2020 and currently is a member of the Advanced Workshop. Mark. 10:29-30.
