At the age of 10, Matthew Maimone was accepted into Juilliard’s Pre-College Division, where he studied for eight years, graduating with the faculty award. Soon after, Matthew was accepted into Juilliard, where he completed his undergraduate studies and was awarded academic honors in 2017.

 

He has won awards in several international piano competitions including the American Fine Arts Festival, the MTNA Competition, the Golden Key Festival, AADGT’s International Young Musician’s Competition, and the Julia Crane International Piano Competition.

 

He has performed in Carnegie Hall’s Weill Recital Hall, Merkin Hall, Lincoln Center’s Alice Tully Hall, Peter Jay Sharp Theater, Steinway Hall, Wave Hill, Interlochen, Bargemusic, and Guild Hall, among others. Matthew has also played in master classes with Julian Martin, Robert Levin, Yoheved Kaplinsky, Stephen Hough, and Jerome Lowenthal, as well as in performances on the piano, celeste, and organ at home and abroad.

 

In addition to his degree in piano performance, Matthew completed his studies in Juilliard's Historical Performance Department where he was coached in solo and vocal repertory on the period harpsichord, fortepiano, and clavichord. Currently, Matthew is the worship director at Epiphany Church NYC and is the organist at Central Presbyterian Church. He is a founding member of the Collaborative Arts Ensemble, a cultural arts outreach initiative, and has also created his own monthly concert series that benefits a different local charity each performance.

 

Matthew founded Metropolitan Concert Artists, a private tutoring business in NYC that provides high-end arts education across the city. Recently, Matthew has been touring with his debut album of original rock compositions across NYC, and, this June, Matthew debuted his Off-Broadway musical - “With A Song In My Fists” -  in which he is the head composer, lyricist, and pianist.
