Minyi

Born in Shenzhen, China, Minyi began playing the piano at the age of six. Her teachers there include Mei Xiao, Zhaoyi Dan, and Mingqiang Li. After moving to the States at the age of 15, she went to Interlochen Arts Academy and studied with Thomas J. Lymenstull. Minyi earned both her Bachelor and Master’s degrees at The Juilliard School, where she studied with Jerome Lowenthal, Matti Raekallio, Joseph Kalichstein, and Julian Martin. She is now pursuing a Doctoral of Musical Arts degree in the studio of Gilbert Kalish.

Minyi’s recent performance highlights include her concerto debuts of the Schumann Concerto in A minor in Shenzhen, China, and the Ravel Concerto in G major with the Fort Worth Symphony in the United States, where she was named a winner of the PianoTexas Concerto Competition. Additionally, Minyi has been a prize winner at numerous competitions and has performed in major venues in China, Japan and the United States.

In addition to Minyi’s career as a performing artist, she began teaching piano in 2019 and has been maintaining a small studio since. Aside from private lessons, she has given masterclasses in both China and the United States. In 2022, she began her position as a Secondary Piano Teaching Fellow at Juilliard.
